Depuis 2000,  Marcelo voyage en accumulant une large recherche sur la musique et les rythmes traditionnels brésiliens. Ces connaissances le font accèder au poste de professeur de percussions à l’Instituto Brincante, un important centre à São Paulo sur la culture du Nord-Est du Brésil. En 2010, habitant alors en France, il conclut un master portant sur son  principal instrument, le Pandeiro (tambourin brésilien).

En 2000 Marcelo obtient un diplome brésilien équivalent à une licence en musique – instrument percussion (contrairement à ce que se passe en France, au Brésil la formation universitaire en musique est à la fois pratique et théorique) par l’Université d’État de São Paulo UNESP. Tout au long de cette formation, Marcelo a réalisé des concerts dans les principaux centres brésiliens et à la ville de Mexico. Suite à cette formation en percussion classique, Marcelo a intégré quelques orchestres brésiliens tels que OSESP, Symphonique du Paraná, Jazz Symphonique, et Orchestre Symphonique Juvénile de l’État de São Paulo.

Dans l’univers populaire, Marcelo a joué avec des artistes tels qu’Antônio Nobrega, Orchestre de Percussions Brésilienne Zabumbau, Groupe Boi Marinho, Toquinho, Mawaca, Robin Gibbs (ex Bee Gees), Comboio Big Band, Carlos Malta, Sambadaboom (France), le Club du Choro de Rennes (France).

En 2001, avec les musiciens Guga Murray et Vitor Lopes, il réunit le groupe créatif « Um Trio Viralata ». Le groupe enregistre deux CD avec ses compositions. Au sein de ce trio, Marcelo fait des arrangements, des compositions et des concerts au Brésil, en France, en Espagne et en Belgique.

Marcelo compose également de la musique pour le théâtre, la danse et des films documentaires. Il a participé des deux dernières créations de la Cie UBI (danse contemporaine – France) Chronica et Rouge ; il a composé la bande-son du documentaire « O Projeto » d’Anamaria Fernandes et Miche Charron produit par Candela Productions et du spectacle de mamulengos (guignol) « A Fantástica História do Circo Tomara que não Chova » du groupe Imaginário (São Paulo).
